Hey y’all, I’m Jessica. My family and I moved from our life-long home of South Carolina in the summer of 2018 to Portland, Oregon. This move represented the biggest “yes” of our lives, following God’s call to be a part of a new church in the city. If I’m not working or spending time with my family, you can likely find me in the kitchen.
Aside from my faith, cooking is my biggest passion. I was always in the kitchen watching my grandmothers cook, and I spent many nights in my college dorm room glued to Food Network (wild times, you guys) learning new skills and techniques that I practiced on my then-boyfriend (now husband). When I went gluten free a few years back, I loved to challenge myself to recreate my favorite recipes minus the wheat. My goal is for people to eat my food and say “that’s amazing” not “that’s amazing for gluten free food.” You shouldn’t have to suffer with sub-par food, regardless of your dietary needs. And whether you’re a gluten-eater or not, all of my recipes can be made conventionally OR gluten free.
This blog spun out of a need to overshare in the early years of growing our family, and now, I hope it’s a place where you can gain some inspiration and feel some sense of camaraderie. Because everyone’s kids are crazy sometimes (or all of time), and the hours between 4 to 6 p.m. are evil for all of us. Here’s to enjoying the crazy… and making sure you’re still eating some really good food.
